Why Do I Do This?

Why Do I Do This?

For anyone that knows me, they know that I am always doing something…even before KTavis Designs began! I do not know how to sit still, unless its a football Sunday spent lounging on the couch.

For years I have referred to my mother as “part-time queen” because she has so many different jobs. Little did I know, I was the same way. Since I entered to work force, I have held multiple jobs at all times, so WHY not just add in a small business on top of that? Between my regular full-time job, and my fun part-time job at the TD Garden, I find the hours to spend in the craft room. Those hours are the most relaxing of my job, because I make the rules and it’s fun!

The types of projects that have come across my desk always amaze me. My favorites have included items of sentimental value, for kids, for grandparents, for loved ones. Those projects can be both fun and stressful at the same time. My perfectionist personality comes out for these projects and I tend to put a lot of pressure on myself for them to be PERFECT, and I mean PERFECT. I was once working on a sweatshirt, very simple, one line of text, how could this get messed up? Well, lo and behold, I looked at it and saw there was an ever so uprise in the text. It started 2mm lower on the left…to the simple eye, they would never notice, but I knew I couldn’t give them that product. So I remade it and I have heard nothing but great things about it!

Making mistakes has been something I need to be more prepared to do. Especially with the laser engraver, not everything comes out the best the first time. It is a fun learning curve, but again, the perfectionist in me disagrees!

All in all, I look forward to turning on the light in the craft space, raising my standing desk and getting to work on things that put a smile on other people’s faces, and that is ALL that matters! But if imperfect things are your thing…check them out here!

Happy July everyone—Enjoy these sunny days!
